Commission an Original

Original Southwestern Artwork by Jessica Ann Jones (http://www.jessicawifall.com/commission-an-original/)If you are interested in purchasing an original or having one commissioned please contact me and we can discuss this.  I will take commition requests on a case-by-case basis.

Some General Information about Commissioning an Original

Size, Cost, & Payments

I can paint sizes from 24” x 24” up to 40” x 60”.  The cost will usually run somewhere between $500 and $2000 and is based primarily on the size and content considered individually.  If you are not local and need to have the artwork shipped to you that cost is additional and will be quoted separately.

Once the size and subject of the painting has been agreed upon and the quote has been received I require that half of the total price as a down payment prior to beginning the painting.  The remainder and any shipping cost is due after the painting has been finished prior to delivery.

Acceptance of a Commission

While I have yet to turn down a request for a commission yet I reserve the right to do so.  In general I will only turn down request that are unreasonable or are a bad match for me stylistically.  While I am open to branching out a bit if you are seeking art that looks like another artist specifically, I’m not the right person for the job.

 Copyright Information

I retain the copyright for all my artwork and reserve the right to sell reproductions of all artwork I produce.  I scan all artwork I create digitally and will make all art available for sale as a reproduction to the general public.  Additionally when you purchase artwork or art products no reproduction rights are imparted with the sale of the good.  See copyright information for additional information or contact me directly.

        What I can Paint

I work paint mostly based on photography (or more often from multiple photographs) and almost exclusively from photographs that I have taken personally.  There are two reasons for this; 1) working from photographs I have taken personally ensures that I own the copyright with no questions and 2) the composition of the painting is a significant part of the creative process and by taking the photograph I have complete creative control over the subject, lighting, focus, angle, etc.

If you are interested in a subject which I will not be able to photograph myself please contact me directly and we can discuss options.

        What I cannot Paint

Logos, copyrighted images, anything that is someone else’s intellectual property

I cannot paint logos in any form.  For example; I can paint a motorcycle, but, I cannot paint the logo of a motorcycle manufacturer, I cannot paint scene with a motorcycle that includes the logo, and I cannot even paint a rough shape on the motorcycle that is recognizable in that context as the logo.  I cannot paint from photographs for which I do not own the copyright.  I cannot paint objects that are in themselves copyrighted, such as products that have a design copyright or design patient.

Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in commissioning an original.
